Ahead, a thin path pressed between stone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The dog was there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Close.<br>Closer than it had ever been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And still, he couldn\u2019t step toward it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The wind thinned inside the passage, slipping past his ear. When he touched the wall, cold grit stayed on his fingertips. listening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To the same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No\u2014to it first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bar\u0131\u015f held his breath.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deeper in the narrow passage, another dark opening
