The dry wind of Cappadocia, the distant voices\u2014everything remained intact on the surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Only the darkness at his feet felt different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As if it opened into another time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesterday, the dog disappeared on the ridge at Zelve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The question it left behind stayed through the night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is that dog.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And why, each time he moved closer to his father\u2019s memory, did something pull him back underground?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Bar\u0131\u015f placed a hand on the railing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cold metal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The chill moved quietly from his fingers inward.
